BMW 118i Sport - The BMW 118i for the first time in the history of the 1 Series introduced a three-cylinder 1.5 liter BMW TwinPower Turbo. In fact, it remains the only rear-wheel drive cars in its segment. This makes the 118i the most sporty and dynamic car in its class.
Image styling is highlighted through Sport Line kit. The exterior of the hatchback model featuring a sporty bumper with shiny black color and unique side skirts. Star-shaped spokes rims 17 inches with 225/45 tires wraps complete the image of 118i.
At the front, the lower apron with larger air intakes and BMW grille with chrome frames accentuate the dynamic character. The use of LED lights with high and low lighting were added to the model. BMW 1 Series signature designs can be seen clearly through images long bonnet and short overhangs. Like any other family BMW, 118i Sport also received 'L' shaped taillights.
Looking into the cabin, the layout of the dashboard and center console are still representing the identity of BMW. Atmosphere that is synonymous and each access buttons are within reach of the driver. The polished black finishing and matte red color inserts on the interior surface 118i highlight touch of elegance and luxury. The basic variant of 1 Series also received multi-function sports steering wheel, push button start, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights and wipers, and BMW Radio Professional with iDrive operating system and 6.5 inch screen display.
Under the hood, the 1.5 liter 3-cylinder TwinPower Turbo 118i can also be found on the BMW i8. The resulting power is 136hp with maximum torque of 220nm. The engine offers linear power. Rear-wheel drive works well through the 8-speed automatic gearbox. Transmission gear offers smooth exchange and precise without the occurrence of a jerk.
Without pedal shifter, you can perform a gear shift on the gear knob. BMW offers the Sport, Comfort and Eco Pro driving modes, which is able to meet the variety of driving. The system will synchronize the reaction of accelerator, steering and gear according type of driving modes. Use of sport mode allows the engine to respond quickly. In contrast, when using the Eco Pro mode, the situation will turn into a more gentle and relaxed. The system will limit the maximum power in order to save fuel and accelerator response turns slower.
Handling the steering is direct. Matching of the moderate weight ratio of steering control also gives confidence. Steering control is responsive and accurate. Sealing the cabin also was silent. Wind sound and noise can still be avoided from entering the cabin, even at speeds of 140 kilometers per hour.
